Freezer meals are a staple in our household, especially when I know our schedules are about to become extremely hectic and I won’t have time to cook dinner at night.
As I prepared for maternity leave, I knew I needed to come up with a solid game plan on how I could feasibly prep several weeks worth of food that would remain fresh and still taste good. These keto freezer meals have done the trick!

Keto Freezer Meal FAQs
Are all of these recipes low in carbs?
Absolutely! All of these easy freezer meals are keto-friendly, meaning they are low in net carb content.
To calculate net carbs, take total carbs, subtract fiber, and subtract sugar alcohols.
Can I use an Instant Pot or slow cooker to make these recipes?
Yes! All of the recipes that are to be cooked in an Instant Pot also have instructions on exactly how to cook them in a slow cooker.

Be sure to check the recipe instructions because some of the recipes are solely meant to be baked in the oven.
How much time will it take me to prep one of the meals?
The preparation time of each meal will vary between 15-30 minutes. To prep the low carb freezer meals, you will gather all of the necessary ingredients instructed in the individual recipe and freeze them from their raw state (no cooking in advance required!).
Can I freeze liquid in freezer bags?
Yes! I personally add the liquid that each recipe requires right to the freezer bag.
Note that sometimes the liquid freezes to make the frozen mixture too large to fit into an Instant Pot insert and close the lid. If you experience this, simply add the frozen mixture to your Instant Pot insert and, using the “Sauté” function, sauté the frozen mixture until it thaws and fits into the insert and the lid can properly fit into place.
Can I freeze the raw ingredients and then cook from frozen?
Yes! This is exactly how each recipe is written for your Instant Pot or oven. Note, however, that if you choose to cook the meal in a slow cooker, you will need to fully thaw the ingredients. This is to ensure the protein cooks evenly and completely so that there isn’t a chance that you’ll be eating undercooked meat.
Can I cook the recipe in advance and then freeze?
That should work! Though, note that not all of the recipes have been tested to do this. If you plan to cook the meal prior to freezing to later thaw and eat, check the individual recipe post to see if there are instructions listed on how to do that successfully.
Can I freeze, thaw, and then re-freeze the meals?
According to the USDA, you can safely do this, but I personally do not.
What should I freeze the meals in?
I use freezer bags and storage bags for my freezer meals. If you do not want to use plastic, you should be able to freeze these meals in an airtight glass container.
How can freezer burn be avoided?
Make sure to get allllll of the air out prior to closing the freezer bag. If you use a glass container, you’ll likely get at least a little freezer burn on the ingredients, since it’s much more challenging to get extra air out of a container than it is a freezer bag.
I will say, though, that freezer burn should not be an issue so long as you cook these meals from frozen within 1-2 months.

Keto Creamy Garlic Chicken Freezer Meal
Serves 8 // 3.4 grams of net carbs per serving
Freeze Together:
- 1 ¾ lbs chicken breasts
- 16 oz cream cheese
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp dried chives
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ½ tsp onion powder
- ¾ tsp dried dill
- ¾ tsp red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Add Before Cooking (Do Not Include in Freezer Bag):
- ½ cup (120mL) unsalted chicken broth
Add After Cooking (Do Not Include in Freezer Bag):
- ½ cup (56g) shredded sharp cheddar
- ½ tsp xanthan gum (optional, depending on your preference on creaminess and thickness of sauce)
- 6 slices bacon, roughly chopped, cooked, crumbled, excess grease discarded
- ¼ cup finely chopped green onion
Instant Pot Instructions: Add frozen ingredients and chicken broth to your Instant Pot insert, set Instant Pot to “Manual” and set the timer for 25 minutes. After cooking, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure. Once you can unscrew the lid of the Instant Pot, it’s fully depressurized.
Slow Cooker Instructions: Thaw ingredients in the refrigerator (this may take upwards of 1 day). Add thawed ingredients and chicken broth to your slow cooker, set to cook for 3 hours on high.
Final Steps: Using tongs or forks, shred chicken. Fold in shredded cheddar and stir until well-combined and cheese has melted. In ¼ tsp increments, add xanthan gum and, using a spoon, fold into sauce until sauce thickens. Serve chicken in bowls and garnish with crumbled bacon and chopped green onion.

Keto Creamy Ranch Chicken Freezer Meal

- 6 oz cream cheese, cubed
- 1 cup (112g) shredded sharp cheddar

Instant Pot Instructions: Add frozen ingredients to your Instant Pot insert, set Instant Pot to “Manual” and set the timer for 20 minutes. After cooking, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure. Once you can unscrew the lid of the Instant Pot, it’s fully depressurized.
Slow Cooker Instructions: Thaw ingredients in the refrigerator (this may take upwards of 1 day). Add thawed ingredients to your slow cooker, set to cook for 3 hours on high.

Keto Pot Roast Freezer Meal
Serves 8 // 2.9 grams of net carbs per serving
Freeze Together In A Large Freezer Bag:
- 3 lbs boneless beef chuck roast, fat trimmed
- 2 cups (480mL) beef bone broth
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 2 ½ tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp (10mL) liquid aminos or 1 tsp (5mL) fish sauce
- 1 ¼ tsp dried rosemary
- 1 ¼ tsp ground thyme
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp dried basil
- ¼ tsp dried parsley
Freeze Together In Separate Storage Bags:
- 2 lbs radishes (weight is that of de-stemmed radishes), quartered
- 1 cup roughly chopped celery (~135g)
Add After Cooking (Do Not Include in Freezer Bag):
- 2 tsp finely chopped fresh thyme
Instant Pot Instructions: Add frozen ingredients to your Instant Pot insert, set Instant Pot to “Manual” and set the timer for 110 minutes. After cooking, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure. Once you can unscrew the lid of the Instant Pot, it’s fully depressurized. Add in radishes and celery, screw lid back on, and set Instant Pot to “Manual” for additional 1 minute. After cooking, manually depressurize (“quick release”) Instant Pot by opening steaming valve before removing the lid.
Slow Cooker Instructions: Thaw ingredients in the refrigerator (this may take upwards of 1 day). Add thawed ingredients from large freezer bag to your slow cooker, set to cook for 8 hours on low. Stir in radishes and celery to slow cooker with 2 hours remaining.
Final Steps: Using tongs, transfer meat from Instant Pot to bowl. Using forks, shred meat before returning shredded meat back to Instant Pot. Serve pot roast in bowls and garnish with fresh thyme.

Mix, Roll, and Freeze Together:
- 1 ½ lbs ground chicken
- 4 oz finely ground pork rinds
- ½ cup (60g) grated parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup (28g) shredded mozzarella cheese

- 3 tbsp (45mL) Frank’s RedHot Hot Sauce
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
Add After Cooking (Do Not Include in Freezer Bag):
- 2–3 tbsp (30mL-45mL) Frank’s RedHot Hot Sauce, depending on how much sauce you want in the final dish
- 3 tbsp (~22g) blue cheese crumbles
- 3 tbsp thinly sliced green onions
- 2 tbsp (15g) grated parmesan cheese
- 1/16 tsp pepper
Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 425 degrees, add frozen meatballs to a small glass or ceramic baking dish, and bake until internal temperature of meatballs reaches 165 degrees, about 40-45 minutes.

Mix, Roll, and Freeze Together:
- ¾ lb ground beef
- ¾ lb ground pork
- ½ cup (56g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup (30g) grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp (30mL) heavy whipping cream
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp (33g) tomato paste
- 1 tbsp dried parsley
- 1 tbsp (~8g) finely chopped onion
- 2 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt

Add After Freezing/Cooking (Do Not Include in Freezer Bag):
- 1 cup (250g) Rao’s Sensitive Marinara Sauce
- ½ cup (56g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Add frozen meatballs to a small glass or ceramic baking dish. If meatballs are frozen together, break apart. Bake frozen meatballs for 35 minutes. Remove pan from oven, pour marinara sauce atop meatballs, sprinkle shredded mozzarella atop sauce, then return pan to oven to cook for additional 5 minutes.
Final Steps: Serve meatballs hot and garnish with fresh parsley.
