This delicious Keto Fathead Taco Pizza contains minimal grams of net carbs per slice and is a wonderful nut-free, grain-free, and sugar-free pizza option that is sure to satisfy your cravings!

If you’re a fathead dough lover, you’re going to LOVE this keto fathead taco pizza!

Not only is this pizza delicious, it’s also nut-free! The crust is made with ground sunflower seeds rather than almond flour. This simple swap makes this pizza suitable for those of you who, like me, can’t eat nuts.

What is keto fathead pizza?

a hand taking a slice out of keto fathead taco pizza

If you’re unfamiliar, the “fathead” portion of this recipe title refers to the dough. Fathead pizza dough is made from low-carb ingredients, which, in this case, includes shredded mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, egg, ground sunflower seeds, and salt!

Why is fathead pizza good for keto?

Fathead pizza dough is the PERFECT dough for keto and low-carb diets because it tastes delicious and doesn’t pack a high-carb punch like other traditional pizzas do.

Regular pizzas can reach more than 30 grams of carbs per slice, which, for most people who follow a ketogenic diet, is already too high of carb content for the entire day!

If you like tacos, you’ll LOVE keto fathead taco pizza

Just because this is a homemade pizza doesn’t mean it’s complicated to prepare! Sure, the temptation to simply visit your local pizza joint is there, but pizza parlors usually can’t offer you a keto-friendly option! Besides, once you taste this delish keto pizza, it’ll totally become your go-to pizza choice!

This keto fathead taco pizza is so easy to make! It has the wonderful depth of flavor present in a good taco, and sits atop a yummy fathead dough base.

I love making a double batch of this recipe so I’m sure to have leftovers for the following day… because, well, we all know that leftover pizza is the BEST kind of pizza!

Nut-free keto fathead pizza base

Sunflower seeds work extremely well in this fathead dough base. If you have a nut allergy like I do, or simply prefer to limit your intake of nut products, I highly suggest becoming familiar with ground sunflower seed meal. It’s a product that is a staple ingredient in my nut-free keto kitchen!

If you’ve never tried baking with ground sunflower seeds, this may feel a little daunting, especially if you’re used to working with almond flour. But, trust me, it totally works!

How many carbs are in sunflower seeds?

1 cup of sunflower seeds contains only about 12.5 grams of net carbs

This recipe calls for less than a cup of sunflower seeds and makes TEN servings, meaning sunflower seeds contribute less than 1.5 grams of net carbs to each serving of this fathead pizza.

Whole sunflower seeds substitution option in fathead dough

If you’d rather not use whole sunflower seeds in your keto fathead dough, they can be substituted for ground sunflower seed meal at a 1:1 ratio.

Net carbs in keto fathead taco pizza

Remember earlier when I said this pizza is a GREAT low-carb alternative? I wasn’t lying.

Each slice of this delicious dish contains only 5.1 grams of net carbs per slice!

This recipe yields 10 servings in total, so there’s plenty to share with your friends or save for later!

Everyone who tries a slice is sure to love this pizza. I’ve shared it with my friends and family, and it’s been approved by both keto-ers and high-carbers alike!

Keto pizza serving options are endless

The serving options for this keto pizza are totally endless. I love to serve it with a low-carb, veggie-packed salad, or if I’m feeling a “pizza and wings night,” I’ll serve it alongside a batch of my delicious Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings or Instant Pot Barbecue Chicken Wings!

If you’d like to add extra pizza toppings, consider low-carb veggies like bell peppers!

Another option is to add extra meat. Try extra ground beef, some pepperoni, or, my favorite, BACON!

Optional garnishes include shredded romaine lettuce, sour cream, and avocado! YUM!

Storing fathead pizza

Once fully cooled, you can store keto fathead taco pizza in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Be sure to store the pizza in an airtight container or freezer bag.

You can also freeze your cooked pizza for up to 2 months in an airtight container or freezer bag. When you’re planning to eat it, preheat your oven to 400 degrees and bake from frozen until re-heated and crust has crisped up, about 20 minutes.
