This Everything Bagel Seasoning recipe can be made in minutes and will quickly become one of your go-to pantry staples.

Everything Bagel Seasoning offers the perfect blend of crunchy, salty, and savory. Trader Joe’s, Amazon, and Costco all offer varieties of Everything Bagel Seasoning, but making your own batch allows you to customize based on your preferences.
For example, I don’t love a lot of poppy seeds, so I use less of those. You can also omit any ingredient you don’t like or are allergic to. Or, if you don’t have access to purchasing in-store, this recipe allows you to make it at home!
Also, if you are looking for a deeper flavor, toasting all the ingredients lightly adds an extra layer of flavor.
What to put seasoning on
Ingredient substitution suggestions
- Plain Sesame Seeds: You can use more black sesame seeds instead of plain sesame seeds at a 1:1 ratio.
- Black Sesame Seeds: Flax seeds or more plain sesame seeds can be substituted in here.
- Dried Minced Onion: Onion powder can be used here, but the texture will be altered. I would use ~1/2 tsp instead of
- Dried Minced Garlic: Garlic flakes can be used in place of dried minced garlic.
- Poppy Seeds: Chia seeds can be substituted here, or you could omit this ingredient.
- Flakey Sea Salt: Kosher salt or coarse Himalayan pink salt could be used instead. You can also use table salt, but you will need a lot less; I would personally only add a pinch to the mixture and then, when using the seasoning, tasting whatever you’ve added it to and adding additional salt from there.
